These terms apply when you submit a story, photo, video, audio recording, caption, name, likeness, or other material (your "Submission") to Free Your Box, LLC ("FYB"). Please read them before submitting.
What you are asking us to do
You are asking FYB to consider your Submission for possible use in future episodes, website content, social media, advertising, press, electronic press kits, promotions, or other FYB formats. We may accept, decline, hold, or schedule a Submission in our discretion, and we do not promise a response or publication.
You keep ownership
You keep ownership of your Submission. By submitting, you give FYB a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to securely store, internally copy, review, evaluate, and prepare proposed edits or production treatments so we can assess it and contact you. If you withdraw before publication or we decline it, this review right ends, except that we may keep necessary consent, withdrawal, security, and legal records.
If we want to publish it
Before first publication, we will contact you and identify the planned format and the deadline for withdrawing. If you withdraw by that deadline and before publication, we will not proceed with the notified first use.
If you do not withdraw and we publish the Submission, you give FYB a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, edit, crop, excerpt, caption, rewrite, adapt, combine, display, perform, publish, distribute, archive, advertise, and promote it, in whole or in part, in any media now known or later developed. FYB may sublicense these rights to vendors and production, distribution, platform, press, and promotional partners, and may transfer them with FYB or the relevant production.
This includes use of your submitted name, voice, image, likeness, biographical information, and statements. After first publication, the license cannot be revoked, and FYB may continue authorized uses, archives, adaptations, promotions, and re-releases. Copies shared or archived by others may remain outside FYB's control.
Your permissions and promises
Age and authority. You are at least 18 and have authority to agree to these terms.
Rights. You own the Submission or have all permissions needed to submit it and grant these rights.
Other people. You have permission from every identifiable person appearing or heard, including a parent or legal guardian for each identifiable minor.
Third-party material. The Submission does not contain music, footage, photographs, artwork, messages, or other third-party material unless you have permission for FYB's uses.
Lawful and accurate. To your knowledge, the Submission is not knowingly false, defamatory, unlawful, confidential, or otherwise submitted in violation of another person's rights.
Editing, credit, payment, and release
FYB may edit the Submission for length, clarity, format, accessibility, safety, legal review, and production. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you have no right to approve the final edit or placement, no credit is guaranteed, and no payment, royalty, or fee is due.
To the extent permitted by law, you consent to the authorized editing and uses, agree not to assert moral or similar approval rights, and release FYB and its personnel, contractors, licensees, successors, and assigns from claims arising from those authorized uses, except claims caused by FYB's willful misconduct or use outside these terms.
Privacy, AI, and general terms
We handle your information under the Free Your Box Privacy Policy. A media submission does not subscribe you to the newsletter. We will not use your Submission to train AI or machine-learning models.
These terms are governed by Delaware law. If part of them is unenforceable, the rest remains effective. You may accept electronically, and your checked box, typed name, timestamp, and related records may serve as evidence of your agreement.
